Michael P. Morgan is responsible for the oversight and strategic direction of MountainView. Before joining MountainView, Mike was an investment banker with Jefferies and Company from 1998 to 2007 and acted as a financial advisor to MountainView’s predecessor. He began his career as an attorney, specializing in secondary mortgage market transactions, and practiced law from 1985 to 1998. Mike earned a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Mississippi, a JD degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law, and a Master of Laws in Taxation degree from the University of Florida School of Law. He holds Series 7, 24 and 63 securities licenses.
With over 25 years of mortgage banking experience, Stenwyn Joseph joined MountainView in 2013 from OneWest Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President in the Investment Portfolio division responsible for managing all functions associated with the MSR portfolio, including valuation, risk metrics, pricing, trading and financial reporting. At IndyMac Bank, the predecessor of OneWest, Mr. Joseph led and mentored a team of portfolio managers and analysts in managing risk and return associated with MSRs, fixed income securities and whole loans averaging over $3.5B in assets under management. Sten earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Florida Metropolitan University and achieved certifications as a Certified Network Engineer (CNE) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD).
Brian Dunn is responsible for conducting and overseeing MountainView’s RMBS, ABS and residential whole loan valuations. Mr. Dunn has been with MountainView since 2005, previously working as an analyst in Clayton IPS’ portfolio surveillance group. Brian also was a Credit Risk Analyst for Clayton Fixed Income Services, where he performed risk management on mortgage-backed securities. Brian holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Colorado and an MBA degree from the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business. Brian also is a Level III candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) program.
Nathan Callard originally joined the analytics team in 2004 when it was part of Clayton Holdings, transferring from his prior role as an analyst with Clayton’s Credit Risk Management group. Mr. Callard began working for Clayton’s Fixed Income Valuation group as an analyst on the group’s portfolio reporting service and began valuing bonds for the group later that year. Nathan was previously a manager with Economics Partners, a Denver-based valuation and economic consulting firm, and a portfolio analyst for The Chotin Group, an asset manager in Denver. Prior to joining MountainView, he worked as an analyst for a privately held asset manager in Rochester, New York. Nathan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Mr. Garland leads the operations of MountainView’s servicing analytics team, which supports the company’s residential MSR transaction and valuation advisory services. In this role, he oversees the research and modeling of the variables and scenarios affecting the value of MSRs, and he oversees all of the activities involved in bringing clients’ MSR portfolios to market. Before joining MountainView in 1997, Mark served as Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis at Dovenmuehle Mortgage, Vice President of Portfolio Management at PNC Mortgage, Director of Internal Audit at Source One Financial Services, and Senior Auditor at Peat Marwick. Mr. Garland earned the CPA designation and holds a BBA degree in Accounting and an MBA degree in Finance from Wayne State University in Detroit.
Robert Herlund is focused on developing and maintaining research around current prepayment, credit, and other significant modeling trends across the industry as well as developing and assisting clients with implementation of resulting analytical models and tools based on that research. Mr. Herlund has 20 years of risk management experience and most recently served as Director, MSR Valuation and Risk Management at PHH Mortgage. In his role with PHH, Bob was directly responsible for MSR and enterprise risk measurement, performance attribution, hedging strategy and execution. He also worked at Fannie Mae, Credit Suisse and GE Capital throughout his career and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a concentration in economics.
As head of the Model Verification practice, Ms. Mills oversees a consulting team providing verification services for ALM models, DFAST/CCAR models, liquidity models, mortgage-related models, and other financial models. In this role, Chris is primarily responsible for client management and verification reviews. She also is a verification producer specializing in all DFAST/CCAR models, SunGard Ambit ALM models, liquidity function and model reviews, and mortgage prepayment models. Before joining MountainView-McGuire in 2012, Chris was Vice President, Investment Banker at Gleacher & Company (2011-2012) and Director, Investment Banker at Sunrise Securities (2009-2011). Her prior roles include SVP, ALM Manager at Colonial Bank (2005-2009) and SVP, ALM Manager at Compass Bank (1994-2005). Chris holds Series 7 and Series 63 licenses and earned a BA in Finance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Michael Riley focuses on fixed income valuation and risk management. In his role, Mr. Riley helps residential mortgage market participants manage risks and maximize profitability. Mike joined MountainView in 2016 from W.J. Bradley Mortgage Capital, where he managed all pipeline and mortgage servicing rights functions. He previously worked at Aurora Bank, performing MSR valuation and pipeline hedging, and at Taylor, Bean & Whitaker, where he was responsible for MSR hedging and valuation. Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Washington & Lee University and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Tufts University.
Jeff Drott’s primary responsibilities include working with secondary mortgage market participants to understand their business models, their liquidity and capital needs, and their appetite for residential whole loans and mortgage servicing rights. Before joining MountainView in 2010, Mr. Drott worked for three of the company’s competitors and for Security National, one of MountainView’s predecessors. Jeff earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
Tony manages relationships with midsize and large banks, seeking to understand each institution’s unique balance sheet challenges and offer solutions that enhance performance and compliance. Tony brings more than 25 years of banking experience to this role, most recently serving as SVP, CFO at United Bancshares. He previously held several positions at Huntington National Bank, including SVP, Strategic Planning; CFO of the Wealth, Government and Home Lending Division; SVP, Segment Risk Officer; and SVP, Deposit Pricing Director. Prior to Huntington, he served in several finance roles, including VP, Margin Manager at Sky Financial Group, and CFO at Three Rivers Bank. Tony earned a BS in Finance from Penn State University and a MBA in Finance from the University of Bridgeport.
Working out of MountainView’s New York office, Derek Katz assists clients with the valuation, sale and purchase of residential whole loan and mortgage servicing right portfolios. In this role, Mr. Katz acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers and provides insight on the secondary residential mortgage market. Before joining MountainView in 2008, Derek was a director in the Asset Securitization and Finance Group at Natixis Capital Markets and was responsible for all aspects of whole loan and mortgage-backed finance, including the origination and placement of mortgage-backed securities, transaction management and contract finance, portfolio and servicing oversight, and due diligence management. Prior to joining Natixis, he was a vice president in the Mortgage Trading and Finance Group at Credit Suisse First Boston, working primarily on subprime and second-lien whole loan trades and securitizations. Before joining Credit Suisse, Derek was a vice president in the Asset-Backed Securitization and Finance Group at UBS/Paine Webber, where he concentrated on auto leases, credit card receivables, aircraft leases, franchise loans, and mortgages. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.
Michael Kelleher assists clients with the valuation, sale and purchase of residential whole loan and mortgage servicing right portfolios. Mr. Kelleher previously worked as a Vice President on MountainView’s trading desk, where he provided analytic and transaction process expertise that helped loan sale advisory clients to efficiently and effectively execute trades. Prior to joining MountainView’s trading desk, Mike spent three years working with MountainView’s bond and whole loan valuation team as a Pricing Analyst and three years at Clayton Fixed Income Services as a Credit Risk Analyst. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Montana.
Christopher Kennedy is focused on increasing awareness of MountainView’s fixed income valuation services. Mr. Kennedy works closely with asset management firms, financial institutions, specialty finance companies and government agencies to ensure that they are receiving the independent/third-party reports, opinions and insights needed to achieve their business objectives. Chris joined MountainView from Equifax, where he was Director, National Sales Consultant – Capital Markets Division. Chris previously held sales roles at Compass Analytics, Republic Mortgage Insurance Company, and Tuttle Risk Management Services, as well as a Senior Fixed Income Analyst position at GE Capital Mortgage. He began his career with Deutsche Bank Alex Brown. Chris holds a MBA degree in Finance and International Business, with a concentration in Investment Management, from Drexel University, as well as an AB degree in Political Science and Economics from Syracuse University.
Bertrand joined MPS in January 2017 to assist community banks in meeting regulatory requirements and improving their strategic modeling processes through ALM model verification and core deposit studies. Previously, as a Relationship Manager at Fiserv, he helped banks and credit unions improve operational efficiency, meet regulatory requirements, and increase profitability. Bertrand previously held a position of Regional Sales Manager at IPS-Sendero, serving banks and credit union of all sizes in the U.S. and Canada with ALM and profitability measurement. He began his career in financial services as Marketing Supervisor at Sendero. Bertrand attended Arizona State University, where he earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing.
Matt Maurer is responsible for providing residential mortgage servicing rights and whole loan sales advice, portfolio valuation, finance facility consulting, and risk management services. Mr. Maurer, prior to moving over to his current role, was a MSR valuation analyst at MountainView. Before joining MountainView in 2008, Matt worked at Clayton Fixed Income Services and Matrix Asset Management. He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Economics.
Jonas Roth’s primary responsibilities include working with clients on the valuation, sale and purchase of residential whole loan and mortgage servicing right portfolios. In this role, Mr. Roth acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers and helps them understand the value of their portfolios in the secondary market. What Jonas most enjoys about his position is the long-term relationships he has developed over 30 years in the industry. Before joining MountainView in 2001, he was one of the initial senior managers at Countrywide Capital Markets and helped the firm grow from 12 employees to 175, working as national sales manager for trading of residential whole loans and securities from 1993 to 2000. Jonas earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Karen is responsible for relationship management and sales development with credit unions. In this role, she focuses on acquiring new clients, as well as growing sales within the current client base, by creating and implementing business and marketing plans. Before joining MountainView-McGuire in 2014, Karen worked at Idea5 as an independent consultant, conducting market research for the startup SaaS company and advising on a variety of staff projects, including marketing plans, product development plans, and product testing. From 2003 to 2013, Karen served as Director of Partner Relations at Balance, where she developed and led a program representing $5 million in annual company revenue, oversaw the onboarding of credit union partnerships to the program, managed partnership initiatives and supervised the program’s staff. Her prior experience includes a 1992 to 2003 Senior Vice President role at industryleading software firm Profitstar, where she was responsible for strategic planning and growth related to annual revenues of nearly $7 million in the US and Canada markets. Karen earned an MBA in Corporate Finance from Georgia State University and a BSBA in Management and Marketing from Shorter College.
Robert Thal is responsible for providing residential MSR portfolio valuation, trading and risk management solutions to clients. Mr. Thal also assists clients with the sale and purchase of performing and nonperforming residential whole loans. Before joining the company in 1998, Robert provided technology and operations consulting to mortgage banks and other financial institutions as Vice President of Business Systems at Commonwealth United Mortgage and Senior Manager at Andersen Consulting. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a MBA from the University of Texas.
Robert Wellerstein builds relationships in which MountainView provides analytic and transaction services for whole loan portfolios, MSR portfolios and mortgage pipelines. In this role, Mr. Wellerstein is an advisor and source of insight on the secondary residential mortgage market. What differentiates Rob from professionals in similar positions is his 25 years of experience in the sales and trading of mortgagerelated products. Before joining MountainView in 2011, Rob worked at Banc of Manhattan Capital, where he was a senior vice president of whole loan and fixed income sales and trading. He previously worked for 17 years at Countrywide Securities Corporation, where he was responsible for sales of all fixed income products, including agency servicing portfolios, residential whole loan pools, mortgage-backed securities and Community Reinvestment Act loans. He began his career with Hamilton, Carter, Smith and Company, where he facilitated sales of FNMA, FHLMC and GNMA mortgage servicing rights and marketing of MSR portfolio valuation services. Rob earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine and holds Series 7 and 63 securities licenses.
